Cadplans has designs for one much like you're talking about. They call it the Cadtrac 1500. It is 4wd and steers by articulation. The supply company, MetKit, that Cadplans is hooked up with sells a complete kit (steel, hydraulics, engine, even wheels and tires) for about $6000 the last time I checked. I built a Cadplans backhoe and I'd love to build one of these.
