706 Range Cover

Need to replace the range cover gasket on my 706. I understand you have to hold up the park lock brake, according to my I & T manual. Is there anything they aren't telling me that I should know? Any particular gear it needs to be in? Anything attached to the cover that might drop?
Appreciate any help & advice I can get.
