If the tractor will charge jump the tractor with 12 volts quickly removing jumper cables when tractor fires up. I do this on occasion but I never leave cables connected any longer than absolutely necessary. Also get the polarity correct if the tractor is positive ground. +to+ -to- A lot of older chargers have 6/12 volt switches. You might watch auctions, yard sales for one. I have a couple older ones and was going to sell one, but think I will hang on to them in case one quits. Good luck.
