Don't know that much about it either;) but if it helps, I looked it up in my Super M parts book. It shows the "low, low speed attachment" consisted of a new:
"transmission countershaft, w/ bushings",
"first and second speed gear",
"reverse idler gear", and
"sliding first and reverse speed gear". I could post the parts num's but since this is from a SM probably be better off just looking up the names in your straight M book.
