Lets take this one step further, I have a Super M that is otherwise perfect, but awaiting a major because of this problem, I wish I could solve it before i have to dive in! Bought it running on 3 cylinders, and popping bad back through the air cleaner on the dead one, once I got the valves straightened out, she still ran on 3. Saw that the wires were hooked up 2431, so I re timed her and hooked the wires up correctly (dist. turns clockwise like it should) and the only fire I got was on the floor after she spit back out of the carb. Put the wires back, and she runs on 3 again...good compression on all 4 though. My assumption is that someone mistimed the cam??? Since, I have heard the a prior owner broke the crank, and may have installed a 400 crank, would this cause my problem? Pete
