I had one just like you're talking about. I'm curious, about the 1 inch bar you bent??? I modified an old puller I had to pull mine....I ended up with bruises on my leg from pulling on the wrench....it came off, with my puller and heat, and lots of elbow grease. I can't tell you exactly how my leg was bruised....I had a bar holding the puller from turning, and me pulling on a wrench....something like that. I personally, would be reluctant to hit the puller bolt on a crankshaft, as I would be with too much heat. Do you have any friends that have, or have access to some really heavy duty pullers?? Like one to pull the front crank pulley on a 6V71 Detroit Diesel engine?? I'm thinking you could take your torch and cut out some steel and then you could use a puller like that. Post back and I'll try and help you if I can. Where you from?
