My H's radiator wore a hole in inside from the steering shaft rubbing. and the hood never seemed to fit right either. I replaced the grill with a better grill and everything seemed to line up fine, I have no Idea why the other grill caused the problem, it wasn't in that bad of shape but the bottom was missing a piece that broke off.
I don't know if that's your problem but it just might be.
