Hey Steven - A quick calculation in my old Browning catalog says for 5.8" driver and 5" driven sheaves (giving ~2,000 RPM at the pump from a 1,750 crank speed), a B-section Gripbelt is good for about 6.5 HP. This should sufficient for your live pump purposes. And it will cost a LOT less than the timing belt option! (Keep in mind however I spent about 30 seconds on this calculation. It's been a while since I've done power transmission design work. My calculation may only be worth what you paid for it!) The one downside of the V-belt drive will be it's sensitivity to water and oil. Just a trace of either on the belt will render the pump drive pretty much useless under load. Unless you have a good belt shield it could be a problem if you plan to use the tractor in wet weather or for snow removal. Also if your H is a "leaker"! Another consideration: Make sure the pump you specify can safely handle the radial load imposed by the belt drive. Many (most?) hydraulic pumps are designed for coupling drive - the bearings cannot handle any significant side load on the input shaft. Hope this helps!! ...Bob M
