Yep, the axel housings on the chain drive and gear drive are different according to my parts book. The chain drive axel housings appear heavier plus the axel itself terminates inside the housing with a spline to accept the sprocket. The outside bearing does not have a seal and gets its lube from the rotating chain. As you mentioned, the cotton picker housing is set up for a Farmall wheel after the drop box with gears is pulled off. I have a late Super H with the MTA type hydraulic reservoir and also with the battery under the seat. I have been thinking about turning it into a high clearance. Apart from tractor ID #, decals, drawbar, front and rear axels, is there anything else needed? I would like to see what the cotton picker belt pulley tranny for a "M" looks like. Unless someone can send me a picture, I will have to purchase a cotton picker parts book. Are there other trannys that bolt up there for other mounted equipment such as corn pickers, combines, beet harvesters and the like. Thanks for the info Harold. You guys must have been busy before and after the cotton harvest.
