When I first got my H it had a 8 volt battery in it also. Did not seem to effect operation of tractor or lights but I changed it out for a 6-volt battery anyway. Each cell of a battery is 2 volts, so just see how many fill holes you see on your battery and that will tell you how many volts it is. Enjoy your H!
