Harvey, you are right on. In an old Kettering ignition as designed by a bright individual by the name of Charles Kettering back in 1910 this system produces approximately 200 volts on the primary with one of todays coils, consequently creating the hot spark that we all have become accustomed to seeing and using to our benefit. The newer ignition systems being either capacitive discharge(CDI) or multiple spark discharge(MSD) actually generate only about 300 volts across the primary. My postings were not intended to be one of belligerence but to actually inform or educate. You cannot fault someone for not knowning what they don't know but you can assist them in knowing if they remain open minded. I am glad someone did pick up what I was attempting to state. Thanks
