Sam: Dave has the answer gear oil on brakes. fix up the seals and the brakes. Those brake bands are pricey. Other item you have to remember is farm tractor brakes were not what we call good until the mid 60s. It really wasn't a big priorty until tractors started to weigh 3 ton plus and were pulling much more. Traffic volume also was a factor, my dad used to spread manure across the highway from barn in the 50s, rarely ever had to stop for a car or truck. I can remember standing on Lloyd Eisener's front step 10pm and you could only see the lights of 4 farmsteads. Hard to beleive in 2003.
