I am going through the same thing. Just bought a new radiator for a 1945 H for $270 and it has exactly the same problems you described. The grill also sits 1/4" too high in front and then angles down to the hood. Also noticed that where the bottom flat iron bends up a few inches onto the side it overlaps the outside of the side sheets whereas the original bottom bracket is tucked inside the side sheets. The grill bolts are about an inch above the overlap so when you tighten the bottom bolts they bend the grill in which is just lovely. Also the fan shroud holes don't line up and some side sheet metal has to be cut out for the grill to fit although this isn't too hard to do. This radiator is going back and I hope to find a decent used one. Thanks for your post!
