Larry: Your assuming that 1\2500 will be induced back may not be true..because the mechanical points may not cause the same rate of change that the arc caused by the firing of the plug will. The important point in transformers is the rate of change and not always the ratio of primary to secondary.. speed is most important in transfering voltage across a transformer. At any rate the coil circuit should probably be look at more from a very high voltage "AC" circuit standpoint rather than a steady state 6/12 volt "DC" circuit. This "AC voltage viewpoint" is what I was trying to get across when talking about a high voltage coil firing across a gap in those plugs..Lots of energy kicking back and forth across that coil in a very short time..and that back and forth current is called "AC".. harvey
