If I sounded shrewd, I'm sorry. I've been pushed to the limit on very stupid things lately. Got a call on a 1952 Farmall H I had advertised in a local paper. The guy told me I was nuts-H's weren't made in 52, didn't have disk brakes, no live hydraulics(add-on) and I didn't know what the heck I was talking about. Then he asked me how the paint was. I told him it was poorly repainted by a shade tree mechanic, and even the rims were red. He asked me why a Deere was red and I told him it was an IH. It was clearly advertised as above. He asked me why in the heck he would want to buy a red piece of trash as it was only worth scrap metal value anyway. This is where our conversation ended. You made a statement that offended me about people being too cheap to put premium gas in their tractors. My grandpa bought a Super M in 54 nwith kerosene burning attachment. He burnt kerosene in that M until he retired in 1995. He grew up on regulars and F-20's, most all burnt that. Grandpa died a couple of years ago, and the man bearly had a penny to his name anyway, but in calling people cheap because they didn't buy the fancier fuels, that set me off. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you, but some things just get to me. IH did offer live hydraulics in the std. treads at least as early as 1952. Now, let me help you if you bothered to read this: Do your front cult's have a angle iron bracket across the front? If they do, you have a steerable set, and the HM250 book will do you little to no good. These are either HM 223 or HM 221's, I think the first, but not sure. Very similar to the F-series cultivators. They mount slightly similar to the 250, but enough differences that if you never had a set you'll probably get lost putting them on. If they came with your SH, does your SH have an arm sticking through the grill? These would definately be steerable and not the 250's. Andrew Ginter

The Day Tractor Lovers Dream About - by Angus Crawford. The day started at five o'clock on the morning of Friday, the January 29, 1999. My father, my sister, my uncle, my cousin and myself all climbed into my uncle's Toyota van. It was six thirty in the morning and we had a long day ahead. We traveled for six and a half hours to our destination - a little country town with a population of no more then one hundred and fifty people (57 of them being children under the age of thirteen). We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
