No disrespect, but I just don't beleive it. I have run 6v starters for years and years on 12v with no adverse effects except I don't like 6v batteries anymore. I started with a '54 Chevy in 1971 which I drove with a 12v battery 15 years. Same starter. I figured I'd run it until it burned up, which it eventually did, but in a building fire. Run lots of Farmall's (I have 34 and at least 25 of those are on 12v) and have never had a starter problem I would attribute to 12v. I firmly believe that 12v on a 6v starter is easier on the starter. You can crank for more revolutions or more minutes (take your pick) and the starter will always be cooler on 12v. I also routinely jump my 6v with 12v but for sure don't leave the cables hooked up too long or the 6v battery will get hot, with attendant shorter life.
