Tim - With a good (not worn out...) and fully charged battery, a Super M once started will easily run 15 - 20+ hours on battery power alone. I've done it several times myself. What runs the battery down fast is frequent use of the starter and burning the lights. If you want to drive it to school or wherever, simply disconnect all the wiring from the alternator (tape off the wire ends for safety!) but leave the battery connected. Stick a charger on the battery the evening before you plan to go - let it charge the battery all night. The next day your Super M will be able to run a lot farther than you will care to drive it!!
