Tim, A battery has an RC, reserve capacity, spec. That's the amount of time it can supply 25 amps before falling under ~80% of rated voltage. Most of them are around 100 minutes. If you guesstimate 3 to 5 amps draw from the coil / distributor, that gives you 8 to 13 hours of running for a 100 min RC spec battery - deduct a bit of time for every start, and 4 to 5 amps x the number of lights when you use lights. Sounds like your alternator has a regulation problem and has fried your battery. Best place to start restoration is a new battery, which should surely get you back an forth to school in two weeks with the alternator disconnected. Then re-connect the alternator when you get the charging problems sorted out. Steve
