Live Hyd for Super M

I purchased a live hyd pump that came off of a 450 LPG with the intentions of putting it on a Super M. With the pump on the bench I put some hyd oil in the suction pipe and turned the pump(looking from the rear where the dist goes)by hand clockwise. The oil just bubbled, then turning the pump CCW the oil passed through to the output side. It looks as though the pump is backward as if it had come off of a diesel. Now two questions will the pump off of a 450 work on a SM and was my bench test wrong?
