Doug, I did my '44 A front seal last year. Yes, you will have to remove the bolster and the timing cover, including the governor and gasket. It is not too bad of a job, hardest part can be getting the pulley off, be patient. Also, have an eye, my front seal was "soldered" in place probably to prevent a previous leak. Used a Dremel tool to get it out of the timing cover, but yours should be just pressure fit in there. You might take the opportunity to replace all the gaskets up there as well including the little felt packing just above the oil pan gasket. Read through some of the post in Archives for more tips.
