To isolate whether you have a rod knocking is a simple matter. First, loosen all the sparkplug wires at the plugs and lightly reinstall them. Crank the engine. Carefully remove one wire at a time and listen closely. If the knocking stops you have a bad rod on that cylinder. If the knock persists reinstall the wire you have off and repeat the test on each cylinder. If you find that you are able to reduce or eliminate the knock by this test I highly recommend that you do not use the tractor until you get the fault corrected. Do not flush the engine. You could start using detergent oil and start changing the filters very very frequently. Hope this helps. Post your results.
