Dont listen to anything that has been said by all the other people regarding this issue. Ive read them all and I must say they are lacking in practical applications.
Here are some guidelines regarding different products and procedures when it comes to sealing gas leaks at a threaded junction.
1)Keep it original
2)Silicone belongs in the bathroom not on a tractor.
3)use JB weld only if you are going to sell the tractor.
4)Teflon tape -- air line only -- gasoline will cause it to deteriorate.
5)Teflon paste is for Natural gas line and water line.
What you should use is a product from permatex. Its called Aviation gasket sealer.
Its impervious to gas oil and any petroleum based product. Silicone and teflon are not. Remains flexible and will seal just about anything. Just put it on the male end of the threads you wish to seal and tighten it. You can even hand tighten it and it will still seal.
Ive seen this product mentioned here before and I dont know why alot of other people havent sounded in and made you aware of this. It is definately without fail the only way to go.
