super A converting to 12v

Hello guys i have a super A i believe the generator is bad and i'm thinking of converting to 12v.My question is what all do i have to do to convert the tractor.Do i have to send the starter out to be changed over to 12v or run it the as is. i have alternators 12v coils and the wiring harness is no problem. Thanks for any and all help
