Jim - Here's a quick 'n easy test generator functional test. You'll need a couple short pieces of #14 or so wire - ideally with alligator clips at the ends. With the motor running at 1/2 speed or faster proceed as follows: 1 - Connect one end of a jumper wire to a good ground - the grounded battery post is ideal. Now find the terminal marked "FLD" at the regulator and clip the other end of the jumper to it. If the ammeter now indicates charge, it means the regulator is bad. 2 - If the above has no effect, leave the first jumper connected. Take your other jumper, clip one end to the regulator "BAT" terminal and the other to the regulator "GEN" terminal (you may get a small spark here...) Again if the ammeter now indicates charge, the regulator is no good. If still no charge, the problem is in the generator. Note - The above all presumes the wiring is in good shape and properly connected. Good luck!!

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
