Hello, With all due respect to the experienced veteran's who have safely operated their PTO equipment, hopefully without personal injury or damage to their equipment, I'd be waiting at the door when the closest store selling overriding clutches opened in the morning. There will come a time when you will regret not having installed the clutch on your pto. More than likely, at that time you will think the $50 cost would have been a bargain. I doubt that you would consider operating your tractor without the clutch between the engine and transmission; thinking that you could shut off the engine with the key and use your brakes to bring all that momentem to a halt in a short distance. That is essentially what you're doing when you operate a direct drive PTO without an overriding clutch. Please be careful for your sake and your family's sake. I think that once you've installed the clutch, this will make sense to you. Good luck.
