Run over by a tractor that was not running.

The Rock Island (Illinois) newspaper carried a story today, Tuesday March 18, 2003 about a Bloomfield, Iowa man who was run over by his antique tractor as he was unloading it from a fifth wheel trailer.

This happened in Orion, Illinois, Saturday. He was sitting on his antique John Deere Model G as it was being pushed, by friends, off his trailer.

Police said the weight of the tractor, as it neared the rear of the trailer, caused the front of the trailer to go up into the air after the fifth wheel trailer became unhooked from his truck.

The tractor rolled off the trailer at a much higher rate of speed than expected, throwing the driver off. The tractor then ran over him and continued down a hill. The trailer also rolled down the hill.

The newspaper did not list the man`s condition.

Friends of mine at work who live in that area said the injuries were fatal but, this is not confirmed.
