Dan , When you put your new seals in , place them just flush with the front of their retainers and they will be perfect. That top seal can be installed with a short cut. Loosen the four bolts that hold coupler to the clutch shaft and transmission drive and remove them. Now reach up and remove clutch return spring, now remove throwout bearing carrier bolts and slide out shaft and remove thick washers on shaft. Then remove the bolts that hold the pot metal piece to the tractor clutch housing. Now remove pressure plate bolts one at a time and re-install three of them back in holes provided in pressure plate to hold it together for easy reinstallation. The whole assembly will come out together , clutch shaft and all out the bottom and saves splitting the tractor. When going back together just line everything up and stick it up in the hole and push the clutch shaft into the pilot bearing and it should stay while you put your pressure plate bolts back in. Make sure you swing your throwout carrier up into position before you set it in place.. The reason I tell you this is because that main shaft drive coupler won't come off unless the clutch shaft is out of the way. Don't try to push it out of the way because you risk busting the ears off the pot metal throw out carrier. Good Luck Tim K. ps. The 4 bolts that hold the clutch shaft to the coupler can be very stubborn so loosen them then pry with a crow bar against the seal retainer bolt heads and they should give a distinct pop and come loose...

My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub. My Papaw raised "baccer" (tobacco) and corn with the Super A, but the fondest memory was of the sawmill. He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
