I am the guy who mentioned the hydraulic hose-spark plug adapter thing, I personally know people who have done this, and it worked. I tried it on a 1941 I-4 that had been verified stuck for at least 20 years. It did not work. I tried all the other magic potions readily available and none of that stuff worked either. I finally got the piston out by drilling holes in it, carefully using a chisel, and even some hack-sawing. Needless to say, that piston is no longer useable. I might also add that $1,000 sounds like a pretty steep price for an M with a stuck engine.
