Well, I hate to disagree with two such learned gentlemen, but here's my 2 cents worth: If as you say, there's fuel in the carb, it should start and run long enough on what's in the fuel bowl to get the fuel pump spinning and keep it running. I'd be more inclined to look at the mag. Pulling it spins things fast enough to make up for a weak mag. Also, if the impulse isn't working, you will NEVER start it by hand. Can you hear the mag "snap" as you're turning it over by hand? Also check the plugs and wires to make sure everything is kosher there. Like I said, just my 2 cents worth, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
