I have a '41 H (similar transmissions) and it jumped out of fifth. I oppened it up and the pilot bearing was out, put new one in, and works like it came out of the factory. It also could be a wore 4th-5th sliding gear. Most of these tractors are about 60yrs old, so you kind of expect this kind of wear. Also, if it is the bearing, when going down hill in second, there may be a nock in trans. with bearing out, it drops the shaft down on the reverse.
