Hugh, Just finished replacing the engine in my 1962 140 and found the same wire that you described. The wiring was all taped up, and I pulled the tape loose without really paying attention to what wire went where concerning the lights. After firing the new engine up (which is another story in itself) I proceeded to straighten up the wiring. Got both front headlights and the rear working just fine, but never did figure out where that heavier guage wire went. Mine originated somewhere near the generator and went to just beside the seat. I just put a wire tap on both ends, taped them up and slid a cover over the whole harness. Mitch p.s. Never would have gotten that engine and clutch replaced and fired up if it hadn't been for you fine folk on this dissucion forum. Many thanks. Got most of my garden in the ground before the monsoon started in Carolina. MT
