I had this same problem years ago with an 856. It turned out, after checking with my dealer, that the top lift arms are mounted on a splined shaft and there are two different reference marks on the end of this shaft, one mark for the fast hitch, and another mark for three point. Pull the top lift arms off of the shaft and re-index them with the marks for the three point. This should make all the difference you will need.
