I see your point Hugh. There are good respectful folks that come there, and as I told someone last week that if all anyone did was come and (with permission) mushroom hunt, or have a "weenie roast" I would never say a word. Sad to say however this is the exception rather than the rule. The majority come to drink, ride atvs (because they have no land), and sometimes destroy. As far as the public property goes I think the law in this state only applies to "navigable" streams and I don't think this is the case here although I am going to contact my conservation agent to tell him of my intentions before I fence off and post the creek. Currently the stream is wide open off the bridge sides which invites activity. My father got into an argument with a trapper once who told him dad he could do whatever he wanted along the creek without his permission (after giving dad a cussing), and would contact the conservation dept. who would tell dad to let him trap. Dad told him to pack up his traps and stay off and invited him to use his phone for the call. That was the last he heard of it so I assume he did not hear what he wanted from the dept of conservation.
