John - The pump drive hub turns CCW when facing the front of the transmission - so it'll TIGHTEN that coupling nut when the pump is loaded. I just tighten the coupling enough so it doesn't back off when putting the pump shaft back in. The first time you put a load on the belly pump the coupling will tighten itself in as much as it needs to.

The pump drive shaft should be "a little loose" - that's normal. Remember - it's maximum speed is only 540 RPM - a bit of slop in the shaft is not a problem...
