I have the third version. IH calls it a clutch type used on some Utility models. I would describe it as the "must remove to adjust clutch model". Maybe the first one you described is the planetary and the second could be a "external adjustable" clutch type. Using the screws you mentioned. Mine has only a vent on the top, no other openings or screws. It has a drain port on the bottom and another plug type thing on the right side (fill level?). According to my manual I have to remove it to adjust it. After reading about it today, I have concluded two things. One, the only reason I don't want it spinning when not engaged is for safety. And two, if it ain't broke don't fix it. When engaged it works just fine. To solve my dilemma I think I am going to build a shield to completely enclose the shaft. Not just something that sits over the shaft like the factory shields. I'll have to remove this one to use the PTO. I do not want my kids to get caught in it. I only use it for mowing which isn't often. 6 acres 3 x year. But I may need a post hole auger later this summer, that could prove interesting! Funny thing, when I opened the bottom drain, nothing came out. Not even a drip. When I opened the side opening about 3 quarts came out. I have no idea what that is about. I thought that was the fill level. So I removed the vent, soaked the vent in gas, it couldn't have passed air if it wanted. Filled the sucker up with HyTran and went mowing. Hope that was the right fluid!

I came from the suburbs and own a small horse farm in rural Loudoun County, Virginia. You can call me a "weekend farmer." The local farmers do. Does it bother me? No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
