Mike: There were at least two different PTO units used on those tractors. Recently I have had a guy describe what sounded like a third version. I'm not sure on that one as we may have been having communication or use of terminology problems. The ones I know of and am familiar with are; the early 460-560 had same pto as used on 300, 400, etc. about 1' square at back and two screws that were locked in place by lock nuts. These screws adjusted drive and brake. They were under a metal cover about 3" long on top of unit. The later ones had an internal clutch adjustment through oil fill hole on top. The hole was about 1-1/2" plug. The clutch adjustment required a special tool. The brake was adjusted by linkage to engage lever. The third one this guy was telling me of, he said you have to remove pto unit from tractor. I had never heard of that one. Kind of glad I didn't either Of the first two I mentioned, I had the early one on a 300 and the second one on a 560. These units were the pioneers of IH live IPTO and tended to be a bit on the troublesome side. Come back with the type you have, someone can help you. Would be best to get a manual, to match your unit.
