I'm not recommending that you do this, I'm just going to tell you what I did. I had the same problem with my 966. Bought it with water in the oil and overhauled it. It had no lugging power to slow the motor down when you turn around on the ends of the field. I gave the fuel screw about two turns and it helped somewhat but still not satisfactory. Turned it all the way and it is a completely different tractor. It has torque at low RPMs and you don't need to shift gears to turn around and it doesn't need a TA for tough spots. You just wouldn't want to ask it to pull like that for constant duty. I also slowed the high idle down so it wouldn't scream.
