Mike - There should be a fuse holder and 20 amp fuse in that hole to protect the lighting circuit. You can get a replacement holder that looks pretty much like the original at NAPA, Radio Shack, etc. The purpose of the "bright" and "dim" light settings is a mystery to me. On my tractors the dim setting has the headlights so dim they're pretty much worthless. (The switch positions more properly should be labeled "dim" and "dimmer"….) Anyway the only advantage I've found for the dim setting is the engine can run slower and still charge the battery than when the lights are on bright.
