I don't know where all these guys get the idea that an oil bath air filter is better than a dry pleated paper element but They are incorrect. Dry paper elements get over 99.5% of the dirt out of incoming air to an engine and the best a properly serviced oil bath does in about 95%. That's why equip. engines wore out in 2000-2500 hours years ago but now they last for 4-5 or more times that long. My information comes from ASAE & SAE testing performed back in the 60's. All the OEM companies made the switch based off their testing. I know TSC used to make a replacement dry paper filter that bolted in place of the oil bath for letter series IHC but that was 30 yrs ago. Not like it'll effect Your tractor but oil bath air filters don't work with turbochargers well either. The turbo's suck the oil out of the filter cups. The wetted cotton gauze filters, like K&N are no substitute either. I put one on My turbo diesel pickup and ran oil analysis and the K&N passed dirt and the dry pleated paper filter didn't. The silicon content of the oil was consistent about 6-8 PPM with the K&N and after the dry pleated paper was put back on it dropped to ZERO. The K&N is now safe in a box where it can't damage My engine. I know Many people swear by them but I won't run ANY air filter I can see thru.
