I remember reading some time ago that someone had done an engine in a C, I believe, and they had the block shaved to true it up. The problem was then the sleeves stuck up too high and the head gasket wouldn't seal. I don't remember the exact amount that was "too much" but I don't think it was over .010 or so. They wound up having to have a machine shop take like .008 off the end of the sleeves to get the head gasket to seal. Might be something to look at if nothing else works. Brianh
