International engines

I have owned several IH tractors and I have several books on tractors. One of my books is --Marshall's Used Farm Equipment PRICE GUIDE, dated 1980. On every specification data section about each tractor, it states that the engine was manufactured by IH, even their V-8. Is this true and if so, when did they start making all their engines?
