I just tried to drain the belt pully sump by taking off the 3 bolts where the shims and retainer are. My pully wouldn't even turn but I was able to free it up easily with a small bar. Now it turns ok. I am figuring my bearings must be in bad shape. I tried to move the retainer plate away from the shims, it wouldn't move. I decided to try to rotate the retainer plate and shims to get some oil /water to drain/seep out. I then tried to pry and tap the shims so I could move the retainer out a little. Still nothing comming out so I decided to put in 1 to 1 1/2 pints of 90-140 wt. oil and maybe flush something out. I rotated the retainer plate and shims some more and finally some water (about 1/2" in a regular Campble soup can) came out. No oil at all came out. Should more water have come out? Should some oil have come out too? The belt pulley hasn't been on the tractor in over 50 years (Loader) and the last time I ran the pulley ( But without the pulley on the tractor) was 20 years ago. Any thoughts?
