Mag on a F-14

I have a Farmall F-14 that I had restored a few years ago. The tractor runs great but I have to pull it to start it. I don't have to pull it very far before it starts but it doesn't matter had hard or long I try to crank it, it will not start by hand. Someone had once said that these tractors were knowen for starting hard by hand. Can anyone with any ideas help me out for what might be the problem or is it true that they just started hard by hand.
