Another thing to try that has worked for me is to run a cold sparkplug. The recommended sparkplug for your tractor was optimum 50 some years ago. Thing have changed, gasoline, engine compression, etc. Probably what is happening inside your engine is that the electrodes are "glowing", so when the engine is shut off, the electrodes are still hot enough to ignite the gasoline. A colder plug will eliminate this. You might want to try a set of sparkplug adapters with automotive platinum plugs. I have and they work great!
