Noisy crosscheck valve on 350

On my Farmall 350, the valve mounted on the battery box emits a loud raspberry noise while a heavy implement (i.e., 1000lb. chipper) is being lowered. How loud is so loud that it may be a sign the valve needs service? The hydraulics are still tight, no leak downs (unlike my MF35 which drops an implement like a hot potato as soon as the engine is shutdown).
