Matt, To my knowledge, Farmall A's did not have a water pump. The Farmall Super A's did. The cooling system on the A is a thermosiphon system. The way I understand it is the differences between hot and cool parts for the cooling system cause the circulation of heat to the radiator where it is cooled down. A person with a Phd in thermodynamics could most likely explain it better. I heard that the radiator cap needs to ne tight for the system to work at 100%. Someone needs to confirm that. May want to flush out the block when you get a chance to. May also want to check the radiator for plugs both inside and out. I am currently restoring 2 Farmall A's they both heat the water up pretty quick. Best of luck to you......Gerald
