Hal: Yes the MTA had Live PTO followed by the 300, 400, 350, 450, 340, 460 and 560. These were just painful years for the industry in general. Farmers were demanding Live or Independant PTO and the industry were scrambleing to perfect these units. I also have a gut feeling that balers took their toll, not that baler took much power but it was the surging of the plunger. Forage harvesters taxed that PTO drive train to the limit and there are likely other uses that taxed it heavily. I was a dairy farmer and my 4 heavy uses were baler, haybine, forage harvester and blower.
