Hi Will, This Spring I had to put a new head gasket on my 1948 Super A (SA's also use thermosyphon cooling). The IH parts man called my attention to the fact that there are 2 different gasket sets for these engines (113 & 123). The only (but very important) difference is the size of the holes in the gasket for the coolant to circulate. He had one of each set to show me; and the diameter of the coolant holes in the head gasket for the theromsyphon block are larger than the holes in the gasket for the engines with water pump. I'm thinking that some of the recent posts on overheating may be due to the fact that fellow "Farmallers" are getting the wrong gasket set for their tractors that use thermosyphon cooling. I wouldn't have known the difference if it hadn't been pointed out to me. Tom

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
