I have a super A blade on my 1940 A and it has the same levers you do mine are spring assited. You can use that blade and yes with some minor changes in how you hook it up to the spring assist levers you can make it work fairly easy. yes it is a lot nicer to have HYD's like on my cub and the cub blade but you do what you can. As for lifting up and down it is easy. with the spring assist set right it is very easy to move the blade. I even saw one time where the front blade had the correct mounting for the A so it must have been made by IH. anyhow we also have a 60" mower deck for our A and use the same spring assist and it works good. I say go for if you have the ability or a friend that can help you fab up your lifting part. just my $.02 worht! Chad
