Remove, hood, plugs, and valve cover. Turn engine to TDC or top dead center on #1 cylinder - farthest forward cylinder. At TDC the pulley on the crank should line up with a pointer. If you don't have a mark/pointer, turn the engine with your finger in the spark plug hole until compression starts to blow your finger off the hole. You're close -- now take a drinking straw or equivalent and place into hole and turn engine and watch it ride up. When it starts to go down, you've gone too far, back up and go for the highest point.

When that is done, the two rockers for #1 cylinder should be loose against the valve tops. Slide a feeler gauge in to measure the clearance. Don't have an A spec handy, but an H is .017" hot. Guesstimate .019 or .020 cold. If there's not enough or too much clearance, undo the lock nut on the top of the rocker and turn the screw with a screw driver until the feeler gauges begins to get snug.

Do the other 3 cylinders the same way....

Also check the condensor and the coil, problems with them can produce similar results.
